CWE-287  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade auth0/auth0-php to version 8.14.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Authentication due to the CookieStore configuration. An attacker can gain unauthorized access by brute-forcing the authentication tags of the session cookies.

Note: This is only exploitable if the user has configured the session storage with CookieStore

Mitigation

In addition to upgrading to the fixed version, users are advised to rotate their cookie encryption keys. It should be noted that once updated, any previous session cookies will be rejected.
