Upgrade getkirby/cms to version 4.9.0, 5.4.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization via the PageRules::create process in the page rules component. An attacker can publish a page without the required status-change permission by creating it as a non-draft. This lets a user who is allowed to create pages but not change their status bypass the intended publish controls and expose content as publicly visible.

Notes

  • The bypass is only relevant when page creation is exposed to authenticated users through permissions such as pages.create.
  • Kirby’s advisory notes that sites are not affected if creating published pages is not considered a malicious action in that deployment.
  • The vulnerable path is the page creation API, not the Panel’s normal editorial flow: the isDraft value supplied at creation time can be used to request a published page directly, so deployments that only allow page creation through the Panel do not expose the same entry point.
