mediawiki/core is a Free software wiki application developed by the Wikimedia Foundation and others.

Note: This package is not maintained on Packagist anymore, but newer releases exist.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) via the Title::newMainPage() function. Users with the editinterface permission can trigger infinite recursion because a bare local interwiki is mishandled for the mainpage message.


Denial of Service (DoS) describes a family of attacks, all aimed at making a system inaccessible to its intended and legitimate users.
