Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Server-side Request Forgery (SSRF) in the validate_webhook_url process. An attacker can cause the application to send outbound HTTP POST requests to unintended hosts, including internal or non-allowlisted destinations, by supplying specially crafted webhook URLs that exploit discrepancies between URL parsing and HTTP client behavior. This can be achieved by manipulating malformed URLs with certain characters, leading to bypass of outbound-host validation logic.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting who can configure or modify webhook URLs, reviewing existing webhook configurations for malformed or unusual URLs, and enforcing tightly controlled outbound network policies at the deployment level.
