CWE-674  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade dnspython to version 2.9.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Uncontrolled Recursion via dns.name.from_wire_parser() in dns/name.py, where a DNS message containing a long chain of compression pointers causes excessive CPU consumption during name decompression. An attacker can send a malicious DNS wire-format message to an application using dnspython, degrading or crashing the application through unbounded pointer chain traversal.
