GitPython is a python library used to interact with Git repositories
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Arbitrary Argument Injection via the Repo.blame() and Repo.blame_incremental() option check in git/repo/base.py. An attacker can read local files by supplying a blame revision such as --contents=/etc/passwd or -S=/path/to/file, which git blame echoes into the blame output returned to the caller. The vulnerable guard only screened revision options against a denylist that did not include these file-reading blame options, so applications that forward user-controlled revision strings into Repo.blame() or Repo.blame_incremental() expose host-file contents at the privileges of the process.
