Overview

GitPython is a python library used to interact with Git repositories

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to External Control of File Name or Path via the abspath property in git/objects/submodule/base.py, which lacked the containment check applied to other submodule filesystem operations such as add and move. An attacker who controls a repository's submodule configuration can supply a checkout path containing parent-directory traversal components (e.g. ../), causing os.makedirs and related filesystem operations to act on paths outside the repository's working tree.
