Snyk has a proof-of-concept or detailed explanation of how to exploit this vulnerability.
The probability is the direct output of the EPSS model, and conveys an overall sense of the threat of exploitation in the wild. The percentile measures the EPSS probability relative to all known EPSS scores. Note: This data is updated daily, relying on the latest available EPSS model version. Check out the EPSS documentation for more details.

GitPython is a python library used to interact with Git repositories
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Exposure of Sensitive Information Through Environmental Variables via Repo._clone() in git/repo/base.py, which calls Git.polish_url() on the separate_git_dir argument without passing expand_vars=False. When a victim clones a malicious repository and calls submodule_update(init=True, recursive=True), the submodule name from the attacker-controlled .gitmodules file is used to construct separate_git_dir, and Git.polish_url() invokes os.path.expandvars() on that value, expanding any environment variable syntax embedded in the submodule name. The expanded secret value is then persisted on disk as a directory name under .git/modules/ and, when DEBUG-level logging is active, is printed verbatim in a Popen(...) log line that is not redacted by remove_password_if_present().
