Overview

insights-core is an Insights Core is a data collection and analysis framework

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Insecure Temporary File due to the insecure handling of temporary files and directories. An attacker can escalate local privileges and execute arbitrary code as root by creating the /var/tmp/insights-client directory with read, write, and execute permissions before the insights-client is registered by root on the system. This allows the attacker to control the directory content that insights are using by inserting malicious scripts into it.
