CWE-409  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade pillow to version 12.3.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) via the MSP image decoder in src/PIL/MspImagePlugin.py, where a malicious MSP file with run-length encoded rows can cause the decoder to expand more data than the image width requires. An attacker who supplies a crafted MSP image can trigger excessive memory allocation, crashing the process.
