Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling via the appearance stream rendering loop in _appearance_stream.py, where _unicode_to_glyph_id is called on every iteration of the loop body rather than once before the loop. An attacker supplying a PDF with a large number of text lines and a selection value can trigger repeated, redundant computation of the glyph ID mapping, causing excessive CPU consumption and crashing the process.
