Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling via parse_bfchar in pypdf/_cmap.py, where an attacker can supply a PDF containing a malformed or oversized CMap token to trigger unbounded processing, crashing the parser. The fix introduces token length validation via _check_token_length and additional structural checks on CMap lines, neither of which existed before.
