Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling via number2uppercase_roman_numeral in _page_labels.py, where an unbounded Roman numeral value accepted from a PDF's page label structure causes uncontrolled resource consumption. An attacker can supply a malformed PDF containing an arbitrarily large /St (start) value in a page label /Nums entry, triggering the function to loop and allocate an unbounded string, crashing the process.
