CWE-757  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade salt to version 3006.17, 3007.9 or higher.

Overview

salt is a new approach to infrastructure management built on a dynamic communication bus. Salt can be used for data-driven orchestration, remote execution for any infrastructure, configuration management for any app stack, and much more.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Selection of Less-Secure Algorithm During Negotiation ('Algorithm Downgrade') via an authentication protocol downgrade in handle_message. An attacker can circumvent the fixes for CVE-2024-38822 and impersonate minions by forcing the use of an older protocol version during authentication.
