Overview

vllm is an A high-throughput and memory-efficient inference and serving engine for LLMs

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Permissive Cross-domain Policy with Untrusted Domains via the default CORS configuration, which sets allowed_origins to ["*"], permitting any origin to make cross-origin requests to the server. An attacker can exploit this by luring a victim to a malicious page that issues cross-origin requests to a vllm instance, potentially reading confidential model responses or invoking API endpoints. The overly permissive default is present in both the Python CLI entrypoint (vllm/entrypoints/launchers/cli_args.py) and the Rust server configuration.

Note: This is only exploitable when no authentication token is configured (unauthenticated deployments) and when the targeted endpoints, such as dynamic LoRA routes, are enabled.
