CWE-78  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade yt-dlp to version 2026.2.21 or higher.

Overview

yt-dlp is an A youtube-dl fork with additional features and patches

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Command Injection in the --netrc-cmd option and netrc_cmd API parameter, which invoke subprocess.Popen with shell=True. The GetCourseRuIE, TeachableIE, and TeachableCourseIE extractors allow substitution on input parameters and are therefore vulnerable to injection. An attacker can execute arbitrary commands on the user's system by convincing a user to follow a malicious URL.
