CWE-862  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade decidim-comments to version 0.30.5, 0.31.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Missing Authorization via the commentable field in the API, which allows access to all commentable resources without permission checks. An attacker can retrieve sensitive information by sending unauthenticated requests to the /api endpoint.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by limiting access to the /api endpoint to only authenticated users, either through custom code or by installing the third-party module Decidim::Apiauth. Alternatively, the endpoint can be disabled entirely by adjusting configuration settings.
