Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Unchecked Return Value in the dd process when errors during file truncation are suppressed unconditionally, including on regular files and directories. An attacker can cause silent data corruption by exploiting scenarios where truncation fails, such as on full disks or read-only file systems, resulting in the utility reporting successful operations while leaving old or unintended data in the destination file.
