CWE-347  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade ethereum to version 0.18.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature in the transaction processing for EIP-2930, EIP-1559 and EIP-7702. An attacker can manipulate transaction signatures by submitting malleable transactions, potentially causing inconsistencies or unexpected behavior in systems relying on signature uniqueness.

Note:*

This is mainly dangerous if the crate is used for Ethereum mainnet.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be avoided by manually checking transaction malleability outside of the crate.
