CWE-617  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade nimiq-keys to version 1.4.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Reachable Assertion via the delinearize function. An attacker can cause the process to panic and terminate by supplying a crafted public key that is not a valid point on the Ed25519 curve during a multisig operation. This is only exploitable if a user is convinced to include an attacker-supplied public key in a multisig setup within browser or desktop wallet applications.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by only performing multisig operations with public keys received from trusted sources.
