CVE-2024-3296  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-208  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for openssl.

Overview

openssl is a bindings for the Rust programming language.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Timing Attack via timed processing of valid PKCS#1 v1.5 ciphertext. An attacker can infer the private keys used in TLS negotiations by exploiting the Marvin security flaw.

Note: There is a disagreement about whether the Rust OpenSSL bindings are doing something wrong, or if this is an issue with OpenSSL itself, and whether there is something that can be fixed in the Rust bindings.

Workaround

Use an OpenSSL version with support for implicit rejection, which was introduced in 3.2.0
