Overview

pleezer is a pleezer turns your computer into a Deezer Connect streaming device that you can control from your phone, just like a Chromecast or smart speaker. Perfect for home audio setups, DIY projects, and custom integrations.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime for users who have configured hook scripts using the --hook option. An attacker can cause the system to slow down or become unresponsive by triggering frequent hook script processes without cleanup, which leaves zombie processes in the system's process table.

Workarounds

  1. Disable hook scripts by removing the --hook option.

  2. Check that hook scripts handle their child process cleanup.

  3. Regularly restart pleezer to clear accumulated zombie processes.

Details

Denial of Service (DoS) describes a family of attacks, all aimed at making a system inaccessible to its intended and legitimate users.
