CVE-2018-20994  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-400  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade trust-dns-proto to version 0.4.3 or higher.

Overview

trust-dns-proto is a foundational DNS protocol library and implementation for TRust-DNS.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack Overflow leading to a crash when Trust-DNS's parses a malicious DNS packet. It did not properly handle parsing of DNS message compression. The parser could be tricked into infinite loop when a compression offset pointed back to the same domain name to be parsed.
