CVE-2024-40640  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-208  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade vodozemac to version 0.7.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Observable Timing Discrepancy through the use of a non-constant time base64 implementation for key material operations. An attacker can infer some information about the secret key material by observing timing variations in the encoding and decoding operations.

Note: This is only exploitable if the attacker has access to high precision timing measurements and repeated access to the base64 encoding or decoding processes.
