CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.0 binutils to version 2.37-6.23.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream binutils package and not the binutils package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.0 relevant fixed versions and status.

There's a flaw in bfd_pef_scan_start_address() of bfd/pef.c in binutils which could allow an attacker who is able to submit a crafted file to be processed by objdump to cause a NULL pointer dereference. The greatest threat of this flaw is to application availability. This flaw affects binutils versions prior to 2.34.
