CWE-190  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.0 binutils-gold to version 2.32-6.8.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream binutils-gold package and not the binutils-gold package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.0 relevant fixed versions and status.

The get_count function in cplus-dem.c in GNU libiberty, as distributed in GNU Binutils 2.31, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (malloc called with the result of an integer-overflowing calculation) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted string, as demonstrated by c++filt.
