CWE-190  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.0 cross-hppa-binutils to version 2.31-6.3.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream cross-hppa-binutils package and not the cross-hppa-binutils package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.0 relevant fixed versions and status.

The elf_object_p function in elfcode.h in the Binary File Descriptor (BFD) library (aka libbfd), as distributed in GNU Binutils 2.29.1, has an unsigned integer overflow because bfd_size_type multiplication is not used. A crafted ELF file allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact.
