CVE-2019-18634  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-787  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.0 sudo-devel to version 1.8.22-4.9.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream sudo-devel package and not the sudo-devel package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.0 relevant fixed versions and status.

In Sudo before 1.8.26, if pwfeedback is enabled in /etc/sudoers, users can trigger a stack-based buffer overflow in the privileged sudo process. (pwfeedback is a default setting in Linux Mint and elementary OS; however, it is NOT the default for upstream and many other packages, and would exist only if enabled by an administrator.) The attacker needs to deliver a long string to the stdin of getln() in tgetpass.c.
