CWE-1284  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.1 c-ares-devel to version 1.19.0-150000.3.20.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream c-ares-devel package and not the c-ares-devel package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.1 relevant fixed versions and status.

A flaw was found in the c-ares package. The ares_set_sortlist is missing checks about the validity of the input string, which allows a possible arbitrary length stack overflow. This issue may cause a denial of service or a limited impact on confidentiality and integrity.
