CWE-770  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.3 apache-commons-compress to version 1.21-3.3.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream apache-commons-compress package and not the apache-commons-compress package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.3 relevant fixed versions and status.

When reading a specially crafted TAR archive, Compress can be made to allocate large amounts of memory that finally leads to an out of memory error even for very small inputs. This could be used to mount a denial of service attack against services that use Compress' tar package.
