CVE-2024-41044  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.5 kernel-docs to version 5.14.21-150500.55.73.2 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream kernel-docs package and not the kernel-docs package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.5 relevant fixed versions and status.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ppp: reject claimed-as-LCP but actually malformed packets

Since 'ppp_async_encode()' assumes valid LCP packets (with code from 1 to 7 inclusive), add 'ppp_check_packet()' to ensure that LCP packet has an actual body beyond PPP_LCP header bytes, and reject claimed-as-LCP but actually malformed data otherwise.
