CWE-130  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade SLES:15.5 rsync to version 3.2.3-150400.3.31.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream rsync package and not the rsync package as distributed by SLES. See How to fix? for SLES:15.5 relevant fixed versions and status.

In rsync 3.0.1 through 3.4.1, receive_xattr relies on an untrusted length value during a qsort call, leading to a receiver use-after-free. The victim must run rsync with -X (aka --xattrs). On Linux, many (but not all) common configurations are vulnerable. Non-Linux platforms are more widely vulnerable.
