Upgrade 389ds/389-ds-base to version 3.2.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow in the schema_attr_enum_callback function. An attacker can execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service by providing a large number of aliases that trigger incorrect buffer size calculations, resulting in a heap overflow. This is only exploitable if the attacker has high privileges on the Directory Server.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting network access to the server to only trusted hosts and networks using firewall rules, and by ensuring that administrative access is strictly limited to authorized personnel with strong authentication.
