CVE-2026-15722  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for 389ds/389-ds-base.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow via the get_ruvelement_from_berval function. An attacker can cause the server process to crash by sending a crafted LDAP extended operation with a replica ID field containing more than 16 digit characters, resulting in process termination before any authorization check is performed. This is only exploitable if anonymous access is enabled or network access to the LDAP port is not restricted.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by disabling anonymous access by setting nsslapd-allow-anonymous-access to 'off' or 'rootdse' in cn=config, or by restricting network access to the LDAP port to trusted replication partners using firewall rules.
