Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Acceptance of Extraneous Untrusted Data With Trusted Data via the ecs-zones
process. An attacker can inject malicious DNS records into the cache by exploiting the way ECS (EDNS Client Subnet) options are handled in DNS queries, potentially causing clients to receive incorrect DNS responses.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by disabling ECS in BIND by removing the ecs-zones
option from named.conf
.
