CWE-120  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for bluez/bluez.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow via improper validation of user-supplied data length in the A2DP process. An attacker can achieve arbitrary code execution with root privileges by pairing a malicious Bluetooth device and sending specially crafted data to trigger a stack-based buffer overflow.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by disabling the Bluetooth service if it is not required. This can be achieved by stopping and disabling the bluetooth service.

sudo systemctl stop bluetooth
sudo systemctl disable bluetooth

Disabling the Bluetooth service will prevent all Bluetooth functionality on the system. A system reboot may be required for the changes to take full effect.
