The probability is the direct output of the EPSS model, and conveys an overall sense of the threat of exploitation in the wild. The percentile measures the EPSS probability relative to all known EPSS scores. Note: This data is updated daily, relying on the latest available EPSS model version. Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to External Control of File Name or Path via the improper validation of link_target in the data_extract_all.c. An attacker can access or overwrite arbitrary files outside the extraction directory by crafting a tar archive containing hardlinks with unsafe path components such as leading / or .. sequences.
Note: When combined with elevated extraction permissions, this vulnerability could lead to privilege escalation
This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the extraction of tar archives from untrusted sources using BusyBox. If processing untrusted archives is unavoidable, ensure that the extraction process is performed within a strictly sandboxed environment with minimal permissions.
