Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to External Control of File Name or Path via incomplete sanitization of trailing '..' in archive extraction paths. An attacker can overwrite arbitrary files and potentially execute code by crafting malicious archives that, when extracted, write files outside the intended directory.
Note: This vulnerability is applicable when the current working directory matches the target location.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding extracting archives from untrusted sources with BusyBox utilities, or by performing extraction in an isolated environment, such as a container with a read-only root filesystem and minimal privileges.
