CWE-305  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for busybox.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Authentication Bypass by Primary Weakness due to the misidentification of yescrypt password hashes as plaintext in the httpd process. An attacker can gain unauthorized access by supplying any password during Basic Authentication when yescrypt ($y$) hashes are used for inline password protection. This is only exploitable if the system is configured to use yescrypt ($y$) password hashes for authentication in the httpd process.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by configuring authentication with SHA-512 ($6$) hashes instead of yescrypt ($y$) hashes.
