CWE-522  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade curl to version 8.20.0 or higher.

Overview

curl is a command line tool and library for transferring data with URL syntax, supporting DICT, FILE, FTP, FTPS, GOPHER, GOPHERS, HTTP, HTTPS, IMAP, IMAPS, LDAP, LDAPS, MQTT, POP3, POP3S, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, SCP, SFTP, SMB, SMBS, SMTP, SMTPS, TELNET and TFTP. libcurl offers a myriad of powerful features.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Insufficiently Protected Credentials via improper handling of proxy authentication during redirects when distinct proxies are configured for different URL schemes. An attacker can obtain sensitive proxy credentials by intercepting traffic between the client and the second proxy. This is only exploitable if the application is configured to use multiple proxies with at least one requiring authentication and another not requiring authentication, and a redirect occurs between them.
