CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade curl to version 7.64.0 or higher.

Overview

curl is a command line tool and library for transferring data with URL syntax, supporting DICT, FILE, FTP, FTPS, GOPHER, GOPHERS, HTTP, HTTPS, IMAP, IMAPS, LDAP, LDAPS, MQTT, POP3, POP3S, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, SCP, SFTP, SMB, SMBS, SMTP, SMTPS, TELNET and TFTP. libcurl offers a myriad of powerful features.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read libcurl versions from 7.34.0 to before 7.64.0 are vulnerable to a heap out-of-bounds read in the code handling the end-of-response for SMTP. If the buffer passed to smtp_endofresp() isn't NUL terminated and contains no character ending the parsed number, and len is set to 5, then the strtol() call reads beyond the allocated buffer. The read contents will not be returned to the caller.
