CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade curl to version 7.49.0 or higher.

Overview

curl is a command line tool and library for transferring data with URL syntax, supporting DICT, FILE, FTP, FTPS, GOPHER, GOPHERS, HTTP, HTTPS, IMAP, IMAPS, LDAP, LDAPS, MQTT, POP3, POP3S, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, SCP, SFTP, SMB, SMBS, SMTP, SMTPS, TELNET and TFTP. libcurl offers a myriad of powerful features.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Input Validation. The (1) mbed_connect_step1 function in lib/vtls/mbedtls.c and (2) polarssl_connect_step1 function in lib/vtls/polarssl.c in cURL and libcurl before 7.49.0, when using SSLv3 or making a TLS connection to a URL that uses a numerical IP address, allow remote attackers to spoof servers via an arbitrary valid certificate.
