NewCVE-2025-0665  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-1341  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade curl to version 8.12.0 or higher.

Overview

curl is a command line tool and library for transferring data with URL syntax, supporting DICT, FILE, FTP, FTPS, GOPHER, GOPHERS, HTTP, HTTPS, IMAP, IMAPS, LDAP, LDAPS, MQTT, POP3, POP3S, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, SCP, SFTP, SMB, SMBS, SMTP, SMTPS, TELNET and TFTP. libcurl offers a myriad of powerful features.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Multiple Releases of Same Resource or Handle during the teardown of an eventfd connection channel after a threaded name resolution process, in asyn-thread.c. An attacker can cause denial of service by triggering the double close condition.

Note: libcurl is only vulnerable when built with the threaded resolver, and only 64-bit systems are affected.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be avoided by either not building with eventfd or by using the c-ares resolver.
