CWE-674  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade dnsdist to version 1.9.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Uncontrolled Recursion due to the configuration allowing an unlimited number of queries on a single incoming TCP connection. An attacker can cause a crash by crafting a TCP exchange that triggers an exhaustion of the stack.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting the maximum number of queries on incoming TCP connections to a safe value, like 50, via the setMaxTCPQueriesPerConnection setting.
