Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Calculation of Buffer Size in the cache process when expanding certain characters in DNS responses into escape sequences. An attacker can cause a process crash or manipulate DNS cache records by sending specially crafted DNS responses. This is only exploitable if the system is configured to forward DNS queries directly to an attacker-controlled server, bypassing standard upstream DNS resolvers.
