CWE-835  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade dnsmasq to version 2.93 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Infinite loop in the NSEC and NSEC3 bitmap parsing process when DNSSEC validation is enabled. An attacker can cause the service to enter an infinite loop and become unresponsive by sending a specially crafted DNS response with a zero-length bitmap. This is only exploitable if DNSSEC validation is enabled (--dnssec).
