The probability is the direct output of the EPSS model, and conveys an overall sense of the threat of exploitation in the wild. The percentile measures the EPSS probability relative to all known EPSS scores. Note: This data is updated daily, relying on the latest available EPSS model version. Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Unchecked Input for Loop Condition in the THREAD process. An attacker can cause excessive CPU consumption by sending a specially crafted email message header to a user, which is then processed by a mail client issuing a THREAD command on the affected mailbox. This can result in service degradation or unavailability for the IMAP server.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by monitoring Dovecot processes for abnormal CPU usage, terminating the offending process, removing the malicious email from the affected mailbox, and restarting the Dovecot service if necessary.
