NewCVE-2025-30157  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-460  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade envoyproxy/envoy to version 1.30.10, 1.31.6, 1.32.4, 1.33.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Cleanup on Thrown Exception via the ext_proc filter due to the fail of a websocket handshake. An attacker can cause the service to crash by sending malformed or unexpected local replies.

Workaround

This can be mitigated by disabling websocket traffic or changing the websocket response from backend to always return 101 Switch protocol based on RFC.
