CWE-754  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade firebirdsql/firebird to version 4.0.6, 5.0.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions via the execute statement process on external databases when ExtConnPoolSize is not set to 0 in the configuration. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to encrypted databases or cause a server crash by chaining execute statements or exploiting improper verification of connections in the external connection pool.

Note: This is exploitable if the ExtConnPoolSize parameter is not set to 0 in the configuration file.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by setting ExtConnPoolSize to 0 in the firebird.conf configuration file.
