CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade freebsd to version 14.3.0-p15, 14.4.0-p6, 15.0.0-p10, 15.1-RC3-p1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use After Free due to the mmap process in the sound(4) subsystem, where the audio buffer may be freed while still mapped. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to kernel memory, escalate privileges, or cause a system crash by accessing memory through a stale mapping after closing the device. This is only exploitable if the system has an audio device and the /dev/dsp device nodes are world-accessible by default.
